I finished block #2 this afternoon. For a little something different, I decided to raw edge applique the tree trunk and the swing, then do a little creative machine stitching to finish it all out. I will drop both blocks in the mail tomorrow. I hope you like them, Katie :)
I love them, Tacey. Thank you so much! I LOVE the swing and the machine stitching on this one, and the little squares for the "leaves" are gorgeous - oh and the applique tree trunk. The other block is great, too. I'm sorry you had a hard time with the paper piecing. I'm glad you didn't quit!
ReplyDeleteFor everyone else who hasn't started yet - I didn't mean to imply that the blocks HAD to be paper-pieced. I'm thrilled with anything that's tree-related - tradional pieced, paper-pieced, appliqued - whatever. Sorry, Tacey, (and anyone else who's felt the pain of paper-piecing) that I wasn't more clear about that in the first place.
Katie
No problem, Katie. I am actually glad that I learned how to do it. I am planning on trying the technique on other projects to better get the hang of it. Enjoy the blocks and I hope you post photos of your quilt once you get it all together. I would love to see it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That swing and the tree trunk are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love your tree! I also did some raw edge applique (on leaves) I will try to post picks for Katie (and all of you) as soon as my hubby shows me how.
ReplyDeleteTacey, I keep meaning to tell you that I got these in the mail last week. They're just gorgeous. The machine stitching is even better up close. I love the knot in the tree trunk. Thanks for these awesome blocks!
